Youth Programs:
YBC hopes, through its efforts and the efforts of thousands of league volunteers, to instill in all children a love for bowling not only as a sport but also as a form of social recreation that they and their families may take part in for the rest of their lives. Bowling in organized youth leagues provides the best opportunity for young people of all ages to learn the values of sportsmanship and fair play. The fact that bowling teaches co-ordination and sportsmanship and may be played alone, with a friend, with family or in competition with others of like ability, makes it one of the top participation sports in Canada. The fact that bowling is a sport that everyone can take part in, makes bowling the # 1 social recreation in Canada.
At Bowlaway Lanes we have an understanding that the Youth are not only the future of the world, but the future of the bowling community as well. We support our members by having a number of masters and coaches present to assist and teach all members of the YBC with everything from bowling skill and educate to sportsmanship and personal control, but most importantly, how to have a fun and enjoyable experience doing so.
Many of the children in Kawartha lakes have experienced bowling at Bowlaway Lanes through their schools. Both high schools have bowling integrated into their weekly phys-ed schedules and many of the public schools visit at least once a year.
